Sara
Liedtke and I didn't know each other in high school or even Martha
Brown where I was a 7th grader in 1977 and she a Freshman. Gasp! Can you
imagine a freshman hanging around a 7th grader?
Sara and I have kids that went to Dudley and Northside Schools together.
I saw her every morning for the past 3 yrs as we dropped our sons off at
the before school program. Our son's battle Pokemon and Yu Gi Oh! card
games with each other!
At the 4th's Party in the Park this year, I saw "Sara" heading towards
me
thinking she was coming over to say hi (and she did say hi), but she was
really heading to the Class of 1980's gathering which was just past
where
I was situated with my family and friends (Terry Drew - - remember
him??).
Any way, I was curious as to which
"Sara" from the Class 0f 80 she was.
So I anxiously awaited the photos to see. Low and behold it's Freshman
Cheerleader from Martha Brown Sara Liedtke!
So Sara - - Check out the old 1976-1977 MB yearbook! You can find me in
the 7th grade section trying to grow out my Dorothy Hammill hairdo!

Mary Ann (Fisher) Ericson
-- September 21, 2003
About 7 years ago, I was in the children's play area of the Peabody,
Mass. mall with my then 1-yr old daughter, Jane. I heard a voice calling
"Mary Ann Fisher" and thought, whoa, that's a name I haven't heard in
over 10 years. It turned out to be
Robin Miller, now Robin
Radner. I can't believe she actually recognized me after so long and so
out of context.
Turns out her daughter and mine are only a week apart in age. Robin had
moved to Massachusetts just shortly before we met up and knew absolutely
nobody.
I am very grateful to have reconnected with Robin, and very quickly
remembered why I liked her so much in high school. We (and our
daughters) have become very good friends and try to get together every
month or so. When neither of us could make the 20th reunion party, we
held our own a few weeks later -- okay, it was really my daughter's
birthday party -- but we still had fun eating cake and catching up.
Since I moved so far away, it's been difficult to keep up with old
friends, but Robin came back into my life with a connection going back
to high school. She's been a lifeline for me as we've gone through the
isolations and difficulties of having young children far away from close
family and trying to balance careers and kids. I'm so glad she
recognized me that day in the basement of the North Shore Mall. |
