Our First Sixty Days...

Hello FHS-80!

I wanted to take a few minutes and several million electrons to write you a brief note about the status of your web site. Today marks the end of our second month of operation and I wanted to summarize what you have been able to accomplish in that short time.

In the first sixty days ...

through the efforts of many very busy

mom's and dad's, musicians, firefighters,

accountants (during tax season, no less),

presidents, vice presidents, police and

military officers, teachers, entrepreneurs,

and just plain nice people ...

... you have:

  • Submitted 27 classmate updates with wonderful stories.

  • Accounted for the creation and/or care of 42 children!

  • Visited the web site a collective 1,000+ times!

  • Submitted two classmates for recognition of honors.

  • Posted a dozen touching memories of our departed classmates.

  • Accounted for 85 confirmed email addresses. That's 15% of our class! In just the first 60 days!

  • Requested 49 site passwords.

  • Submitted some pretty great family photos.

  • Contributed some terrific reunion photos ... with more to come!

And you have cycled and circulated information about this web site to dozens and dozens of our classmates. And who knows how many emails have been flying around cyberspace reconnecting old friends and classmates as a result of your participation in this project.

As the one pulling the levers and throwing the switches here behind the curtain, I want to congratulate all of you on your willingness to participate and to share and to just visit the site and remember. If I had a dime for every email I've read in the last sixty days containing the phrase, "trip down memory lane" ... well ... I'd have at least two bucks! By the way, more than 300 emails have come to the web site in one form or another in the first sixty days. I'd say the word is getting around and you're to blame! I mean you're to thank, of course!

You've made some wonderful suggestions and some awfully nice comments. You've made me laugh and some of you have made me cry. It's been a wonderful first sixty days and I don't know about you, but I'm really looking forward to the next sixty ... just to see who discovers us and joins us and shares his or her story with us.

For those of you from other classes visiting this web site, please feel free to chime in through the guestbook. We've already heard from a few of you in different ways and it's been terrific.

Those of you in the class of 1980 who've taken the time to visit but have not yet shared your story with us ... well ... we can wait! We're in no hurry. We'd love to know all about you and your family and your business and ... all in good time.

There's this phrase that keeps running through the back of my mind. Or am I hearing things? I don't know... "If you build it they will come." It seems vaguely familiar to me somehow ...

It's clear that not everyone will be interested in this project and that's fine. It is my hope that this be a fun place for those who are interested to come and remember, catch up, read about your old friends, and perhaps discover a few people you didn't know in 1980. We have some remarkable classmates doing some very remarkable things and some of them are talking!

Most of all, I hope this experience brings back some great old memories and provides a forum for creating some new ones.

I wish you a wonderful spring 2002, where ever this note finds you. I encourage you to share any ideas or comments you may have for this web site. It will always be your contributions and ideas and participation that will make this web site a place of value and a place worth visiting.

Thank you for what you have already accomplished here and for what you will contribute in the months ahead!

Namaste!
