Hello Alum!
Due to our New York State school budget issues Fairport has been one truly affected. Last year Fairport’s Facilities Project budget was voted down. Approximately 10% of the budget, was money that was going to help improve the athletic fields in the district.
With this in mind our school athletic facilities are in need of major improvements. The Fairport Football Alumni Association is in the process of raising money from past alumni to donate back to the school to upgrade the football/lacrosse field at FHS.
FFAA has created a web site www.fairportpride.com . We have started construction on the "Walk of Pride" a walkway that the football team and lacrosse teams use to enter the field on game day. For $! 100.00 A past player, coach, cheerleader or loyal contributor’s name will be etched into a brick and will forever be in place at FHS. A real pipe dream is to raise enough money to install an artificial turf field at FHS. As one person told me "Do you know how many bricks you need to sell? Your crazy" I've been known to be a little off the rocker (I've heard worse).
The website is still under construction and is
going to take us a while to do. Along with accepting donations on this site, we
will be documenting the history of Fairport football from 1899 to present,
lacrosse will also be part of this project. Please consider being part of this
exciting project. You can contact us through the website should you have any
questions. If things come together, Soccer, Field hockey, lacrosse and football
will all be able to take advantage of the field. Also if you have any old
articles of your playing days at FHS that we may be able to use on website
please contact us.
Thanks all,
