Shelley Lent was honored by Colby College, Waterville, Maine as co-founder the college ski team in 1982-83.

Founded as a club competing in NCAA Division II, within 4 years the team became varsity and began competing in NCAA Division I. Colby continues to have one of the strongest ski programs in the country.

Shelley also established the Colby College Winter Carnival (Colby's bi-annual ski meet) at Sugarloaf Mountain, Maine

The cross country ski loop on the Colby campus is dedicated to the co-founders of the college ski team and includes the name Shelley Lent.
