I'm looking for someone but I'm not sure how to
find them.
There are a number of ways of locating a classmate or faculty member. Try the following
- Last Name Directory - click on the first letter of the person's last name at the top of the contents section of the page (left side), and then scroll down to their name -- click on the name and the person's page should pop up.
- First Name Directory - You can locate someone by the first name they gave for yearbook publication but using the first name directory. Keep in mind that you might need to look for William instead of Bill, Robert instead of Bob, or Elizabeth instead of Beth ... and so on.
- Faculty & Staff Directory - If you're looking for a faculty or staff member from 1980, go to this directory first. It's your best bet. If you have trouble finding them there, try the Search Page.
- 1980 Yearbook Student Pages - You can also scan through the senior photo pages, locate the person on the page, and click on that photo. This should take you to their individual page.
- Thumbnail Directory - There is also a thumbnail directory listed alphabetically. Some class members did not have a senior photo in the 1980 yearbook. I have tried to take pictures from 1979 or 1978 if necessary. There are a few classmates for which I was unable to find a photo.
- Search - Go to the Fairport1980.com Search Page and type in the name of the person you are looking for. Click on the "Start Search" button and wait for the results. It's likely that you may find several pages on which that person's name appears. Click on the Document title you feel is most relevant.
- Other Yearbooks - It's possible that the classmate you're looking for didn't graduate with us and so doesn't appear in either the 1980 yearbook nor the various directories. You may be able to locate them in the 1979, 1978, or earlier yearbooks.
I'm looking for a faculty or
staff member from 1980. Where should I look?
There are three places to try to find a faculty or staff member from 1980:
- 1980 Yearbook Faculty Pages
- 1980 Faculty Directory
- If all else fails, give the Search Page a try.
Why is there no current email address or
information for someone?
If you've found the person you're looking for only to discover that there is no current information it is because we have not received an update from that person. Check the Updated Classmates Directory from time to time to see if we've received an update.
How do I send the web site an update of my
current information?
There are two ways to do this.
- Update Your Page - fill in this form and click submit at the bottom of the page.
- Request the Update Form via Email
- Send an Email to webmaster@fairport1980.com
Each of these methods will work. And each of these methods are handled manually -- there is no script processing going on here. Some of your information may be reformatted for best display.
How do I send in a photograph or two?
First, Please review the photo submission instructions.
At the moment, photos can be contributed by email (hey, an upload page would be nice). Send your photo attached to an Email to webmaster@fairport1980.com.
I have a question or problem regarding this web
site. Who can I contact?
Please use our Feedback Page or send an Email to webmaster@fairport1980.com. Feedback & Emails sent this address will go to the person presently responsible for maintaining the web site. Please keep in mind that this is a volunteer effort and it may take a bit of time to respond to your Email.
If you really need to talk to us by telephone, please request a call in your email -- um, make sure you put your full name and phone number with area code in your email ;^) -- and we'll do our best to give you a call. As it may take some time to review all of the emails, please be patient for a phone call. Thanks.
Is the information I send in private or
secure?
The simple and honest-to-goodness answer is ... maybe.
Please provide only the information you'd like to share with your classmates.
The manager of this web site is a class member who also values privacy and will never sell or share your information with anyone (other than perhaps the Fairport Alumni Association). However, this is cyberspace .. the internet ... and there are creepy-crawly things all over the place out here just digging for information and if they find these pages they may find your information. But it's likely that if you spend any time at all in cyberspace, they already have.
The person
I'm looking for just isn't here. Why not?
There are a couple of possible reasons why the person you're looking for isn't on this web site. First, they may not have been in our class. Is it possible they were in a different graduating class? If you're certain they were in our class but they're not on this web site then it's likely they weren't in our yearbook. The source used for all names and senior photos on this web site was the 1980 Hourglass. If they were in the yearbook, then they were overlooked. In either case, please use our Feedback page to let us know. Lastly, it is possible that our classmate has requested that their information be removed from this site and those wishes have been respected.
Why do I
need a username and password to see current information?
Privacy is an important thing, especially these days. Privacy in Cyberspace is tough to come by and sometimes very difficult to maintain. In an attempt to protect information that you or another classmate may be willing to share with our class but unwilling to share with the rest of the world, all current information (contact info, life stories, family photos, etc.) have been placed in a protected part of the web site. The only exception is any information that is already available in public on the web (photos, web sites, email addresses, etc.).
To access these sections of this site, you will need a username and a password which can be obtained by filling out the Password Request Form or by sending an email with your full name at graduation and your current email address to password@fairport1980.com.
You will receive an automated response indicating that your request has been received. It may take up to 48 hours to receive the password as all requests are handled manually. It is our hope that this minor inconvenience and delay will be an acceptable trade-off for better security. If you have any questions or concerns about this policy, please use our Feedback Page.
Hey,
I'm not listed here! Why not?
If you weren't in the 1980 Hourglass, there's a good chance you're not listed on this site. If you were in the class, even if you didn't graduate with us (perhaps you left the district in 1978 or 1979, for example), use the Feedback Form or even the Update Page to give us your info and we'll get you posted. Be sure to give us your email so that we can confirm the info if necessary. Thanks!
I
have a news item I'd like to have posted on the News page. How do I do that?
Simple. Fill out the News Submission Form and hit enter. That's it. The submission will be reviewed by the webmaster. Be sure to provide your email address in case any questions arise.
